Social Program Milan 2013

Not only Business: a very attractive Social Program has been organized for participants, to discover Milano and its beautiful surroundings.
The final sightseeing tour for all participants to the Borromeo Islands in Lake Maggiore) concluded this 8th edition.

TUESDAY 14 MAY 2013
Accompanying Persons
Half Day Guided Tour of the Historical Centre of Milano

The importance of Milano throughout the centuries is still visible in its magnificient churches, palaces and monuments. Among them: Piazza Duomo and the wonderful Gothic
Cathedral, with the golden Madunina (little Madonna), Sforza Castle, built by Duke Francesco Sforza during 15th century. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, home of some of the oldest shops and restaurants and the most elegant and luxury shops in Milano; and Piazza Mercanti (ancient medieval Piazza).
Visit to
Cenacolo: Last Supper, by Leonardo da Vinci, is one of the most famous works. The scene shows, in a very realistic and dramatic style, the moment after Jesus announced that one of his apostles would betray him and their very different reactions to the news. Leonardo used a new technique which it soon revealed to be not durable and unfortunately the piece began deteriorating only a few years after it was finished. Recentely a very important restauration has been completed.

EVENING - Concert at La Scala Theater (optional)
Congress participants will attend, at “La Scala” theater, the opera "Oberto conte di San Bonifacio" by Giuseppe Verdi on the occasion of the bicentenary of his birth.

 

 

WEDNESDAY 15 MAY 2013

Half Day Guided Tour "Coffee, Fashion & Design"

Visit to
Brera district (old artists' quarter, now fashionable district with shops, restaurants, Palace of Brera); visit to theater "La Scala", one of the most prestigious operahouses in the world since 1778. Visit to the Fashion Quarter (Via Montenapoleone) and Piazza San Babila. Break in one of the historic cafes of Milan.

EVENING CONCERT
(free for all participants)
A private concert for all Congress participants and accompanying persons will be performed at 21.30 in the very suggestive Church of S. Cristoforo al Naviglio, via San Cristoforo 3, Milano.

Music by Verdi, Wagner, Liszt performed by Giuseppe Verdi Trio, clarinet, piano and vocal.

Bergamo Alta Tour

The city of
Bergamo has two centres: "Città alta" (upper city) and “Città bassa” (lower city ). Città Alta, a hilltop medieval town surrounded by 17th century defensive walls, is the noble and ancient heart of Bergamo. Over the centuries it has kept its medieval outline, with ancient buildings dating back to 12th century.
The
panorama of the surrounding mountains, valleys and plains, which disappear into the distance, is both delightful and romantic.

Visit to Old Town Square, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Cappella Colleoni and Rocca.

EVENING - Gala Dinner (for all participants and accompanying persons)
All participants and accompanying persons will be invited to a Gala Dinner in a private hall in Meliã Hotel to spend a relaxing and friendly evening.

FINAL SIGHTSEEING TOUR:
THE LAKE MAGGIORE

Lake Maggiore is the most westerly of the three great prealpine lakes of Northern Italy and it extends between Switzerland and Italy. The variety and grandeur of its scenery, the beautiful vegetation and wonderful gardens, the mild climate, the scenic Borromean Islands and its magic atmosphere make a visit to Lake Maggiore an unforgettable experience.
By private boat visit to
Isola Madre and the Renaissance palace with the elegant English garden that belong the Borromeo Family. Transfer to Isola Bella and visit to the imposing Borromeo baroque palace and the Italian garden with their ten super-imposing terraces.
